ASEAN Projects
Myanmar |
TCTF’s goal to strengthen vulnerable communities in the ASEAN region came to Myanmar in October 2011 where, with the help of Myanmese and Singaporean partners, we managed to donate soap, toothbrushes and various non-perishable goods like sacks of rice to be distributed to the Instruments for Christ Orphanage Centre and Bethesda Children’s Home. This helped the village folks in meeting their basic nutritional necessities.
TCTF’s support for the construction of the Canossian Boarding House cum Training Centre, managed by the Cannosian Daughters of Charity,is on-going. Currently, training for the teachers is underway at the Canossian sisters’ quarters.
The school library project pressed on for a second year. Volunteers from the Man Fut Tong Welfare Society, Singapore Red Cross Society and TCTF disbursed uniforms, refreshments and school stationery to the pupils from the same school, to the delight of the pupils, their families and teachers.

40km northwest of Yangon, at the Kin Malin Village (Hlawga township), little gifts can go a long way.
With funding help from various sources including through the foundation’s Tan Chin Tuan Charitable Trust, volunteer Thien Lwin has been raising funds for several community-improvement projects. These help the village folk, as well as the Buddhist monastery and Baptist church in the area. His projects include distributing milk powder to the children once a month, donating medical supplies to the dispensary where a part-time nurse administers basic first-aid, building a well between the monastery and the church, and setting up a library with reading material donated by well-wishes.
