The Grand Opening of Stella Maris General Hospital (Nias Island, Indonesia)

The Maris Stella General Hospital had its grand on 3 December 2009. This is a joint Singapore-Indonesia effort between Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF), The Singapore Red Cross Society (SRC), World Federation of Catholic Medical Associations (FIAMC), SCMM Sister Congregation, and Perdhaki.

This 60-bed hospital with operating facilities is expected to provide secondary healthcare and hospitalisation to about 2,000 severely sick patients living on the island per year, and provide outpatient treatment to about 30,000 residents in Nias per year. An estimated 800,000 Nias residents can benefit indirectly through better health practices and economic activities resulting from this project.

Ground Breaking of Stella Maris General Hospital (Nias Island, Indonesia)

Tan Chin Tuan Foundation (TCTF) and its partners from Singapore and Indonesia have banded together to develop the Stella Maris General Hospital in Nias South, Indonesia. With over $2 million in funding from the Tidal Wave Asia Fund, and donations from groups such as the Archdiocese Crisis Coordination Team, the Lee Foundation and TCTF, the 60-bed hospital, complete with A&E and operating facilities, pharmacy and outpatient departments will raise the level of needful healthcare services, especially in the area of maternity and children health.


These are the representatives of the partners in the building of “Stella Maris General Hospital” project in Nias South, Sumatra, Indonesia.
