Medical, Eyecare and Dental Medical Mission trip in Cambodia by Singaporeans tend to close to 1000 poor villagers
A team of 29 Singaporeans, comprising GPs, eye surgeon, opticians, nurses, physiotherapist, dentists, and other healthcare professionals, volunteered for five days at Kampong Chhnang, 2 hours’ drive from Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
They were supported by about 40 khymer volunteers, as interpreters and assistants.
Location: Sang Khim Canaan School at Kampong Chhnang, Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The Singapore team treated about 800 villagers (some had 1 admission voucher, but brought along their children) in the Kampong Chhnang area, for a variety of health ailments. The eye clinic alone attended to over 700 patients, with cataract, glaucoma, long/short sightedness.
The medical mission trip was organised by Bethesda Hall and the medicines were sponsored by the Tan Chin Tuan Foundation.
It had the support of the local Khymer authorities.
On Tues 8 Sept, Singapore’s ambassador to Cambodia Ms Tan Yee Woan visited the team, saw them in action, treating patients. Her presence was very encouraging to the Singapore team, and the Khymers were delighted to meet with and share their volunteer work with Her Excellency.
